JOB TITLE: Software Engineer Contractor

DATES: ASAP, for 3 months

JOB SUMMARY

The overall project is to produce a “bot” capable of monitoring of market prices and making transactions when prices fall outside of a predicted range, based on a proprietary model. You will develop and test key software modules, as part of a two-person development team, in a small organization.

The role will last for three months, with an opportunity to extend if successful. You will work from your own home, on a very flexible and negotiable schedule, for a minimum of 27 hours per week (but more if you are available).

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

· Design and document, code and unit test Python modules.

· Assist with the integration and system testing of the Python modules.

· Provide regular status reports (via email and telephone calls) to, and receive direction from Technical Lead/Project Manager.

· Manage own time.

· Provide own office and computer system suitable for software development.

OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Collaborate on the continual improvement of development practices within the team.

· Technical review of architecture, design and code.

· Be available for occasional face-to-face meetings.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED

· Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in software development.

· Minimum 1 year’s experience in Python programming language.

· You must be self-motivated and disciplined to be capable of performing effectively without direct supervision.

· Good communication skills are required, as most interactions will be through email and telephone conversation.

· You must have an ABN number.

PREFERRED

· Both Windows and Linux experience desirable.

o Windows experience preferred.

· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology highly regarded.

· Candidates within the Greater Sydney area would be preferred, to allow occasional face-to-face meetings. Candidates living outside Australia will not be considered.
