According to my Famous Five reference library, by historian and scholar Enid Blyton, there is a secret code shared by tramps and vagabonds. By placing a careful, inobstrusive mark on your doorway or gate, they can indicate to others “unkind to beggars, ferocious dog, sucker for a scam”, etc.
The idea of a giant conspiracy amongst the loners of this world is appealing, and I think the time is due to bring this into the Internet age.
I want an email plug-in that looks up an email address and passes on the warnings of others: “Takes a week to respond to email, only reads the first 3 lines, doesn’t have a sense of humour.”
