After discussing the best compromise between WYSIWYG and mark-up and having a request for the ability to preview comments, I am proud to announce a trial run of Live Comment Preview on OddThinking.
As you type into the comment box, your comment will dynamically appear at the bottom of the screen as it will finally look when you hit submit.
The need to scroll down to see it is a bit clumsy, and it doesn’t always get the final appearance spot on, but it looks like it will be helpful.
Let me know what you think, so I can decide whether to keep it.

The comment preview plugin is neat. Everyone should have one! Have you considered adding a fixed height preview area at the bottom of the page? Using a table with the word DRAFT in the background could work a treat. As another alternative, you could have a name anchor at the bottom of the page that is constantly loaded as the user types.
If only you could hide this edit box, and make a cursor appear in the preview, you’d have a whole (well, half-assed) WYSIWYG editor going on. Could make editing tags a bit hard though…
