Once up a time, I was trying to concentrate on the essay I was writing, but I had been working on it for a while, and I was having trouble remaining focussed.
My hands were fidgeting with my stapler as I re-read what I had written. I repeatedly opened and closed its grey steel form. I idly fingered the metallic tape strip that restrained the arc of the stapler arm. Then, I noticed that the metallic strip had some sort of inscription on it.
My essay forgotten, I opened the stapler wide and held it up to the light, to see what had been written onto its internals.
There, in my own handwriting, was a long-forgotten note that I had left for myself many years earlier:
“Bored? Me too!”
