How I got my nickname.
One Wednesday, a couple of years ago, I decided it was finally time to upgrade the RAM in my home PC, to make it run faster.
On the Thursday night, I purchased some RAM and installed it.
On the Friday, I upgraded the BIOS of my motherboard, so it would recognise the new RAM.
On the Saturday, I went on a desperate shopping trip for a new fridge/motherboard to replace the one that got inexplicably fried during the BIOS upgrade.
On the Sunday, I re-installed Windows, which would no longer boot because of the new motherboard.
On the Monday, I sold Chris my four-day old RAM, because it was already obsolete – my new motherboard wouldn’t take it.
It was a long time before I was thinking about upgrading again. All that damn system administration work on my computer at home was not fun.
